Must-Visit Spots Near The RDU Airport

When you’re traveling through Raleigh, North Carolina, there are many things that you should stop and see. Beyond the bustling terminals at the airport is a world of hidden gems that are must-visit spots for you to explore. Whether you’re faced with a lengthy layover or staying for a few days, here are some places you should consider.

1. Art and Culture in Chapel Hill

Perhaps you’re an art enthusiast who can’t get enough gallery viewings. While it’s not the Louvre in France, you’ll be amazed at the art and culture that awaits you in the Chapel Hill area. Artistic expression comes to life in this town, as you can explore one of the many galleries or watch a live performance. The streets are historic and resonate with the rich heritage of this cultural town.

2. Umstead State Park Adventure

Do you love being in nature? Is birdwatching or walking among the trees a tranquil way for you to escape? Nature enthusiasts must see the Umstead State Park. The best news is that it’s just a stone’s throw away from the airport.

You’ll find plenty of spots for a picnic that have postcard-worthy views. If you need to exercise before or after a long flight, consider one of the many hiking trails. There’s something magical about being outside in nature, and the tranquil state park showcases just some of North Carolina’s beauty.

3. Dine in Morrisville

Do you love authentic Asian cuisine or to sample foods from international eateries? Morrisville has a lot to offer to those who have a craving for diverse flavors that go beyond a burger and fries. In this area, you can sample savory dishes from around the world.

This charming and picturesque town has everything from casual dining to sophisticated eateries. You’ll find Mexican, Italian, Indian, Asian, Turkish, Peruvian, Thai, and Cuban offerings. Morrisville’s name should be changed to Flavortown, as this city offers so much for those who like to explore new food options.

4. Museum of Life and Science

Not only is your RDU Airport Shuttle family-friendly, but there’s so many things to see and do around our city that’s perfect for the kids. The Museum of Life and Science is one establishment you can’t miss if you have extra time.

5. Brewery Hopping in Cary

Craft beers are more fragrant than those mass produced at larger breweries. You must check out this scene if you’re a craft beer lover. Cary, NC, is just a short jot from the airport, and when you have a cold ale, it can calm all your traveling anxieties. Here, they have local brews, and you can even learn about the art of beer making. Taking your tastebuds on a journey while seeing this part of the country is warranted.
