7 Places To Explore For This Year’s Vacation

Spring is officially here in North Carolina, and many locals have the travel bug. Soon the RDU airport will buzz with happy vacationers, and the staff here at My RDU Airport Shuttle is ready for another bustling season. Have you made your travel plans this year, or are you waiting for the perfect time to plan a getaway? Well, there’s no time like the present.

There’s no need to travel worldwide when there are so many beautiful things to see and explore close to home. America is a land of wonders and beauty, and here are ten places to explore at least once in your lifetime.

1. Niagara Falls

Niagara is just a short plane ride from North Carolina. Every second, more than 3,160 tons of water tumble over the three massive falls.

Another fascinating fact is the designer of this national park was none other than Frederick Law Olmsted, the designer of NYC’s Central Park. The falls are estimated to be about 12,000 years old, as scientists say it dates to the final glacial period. Why not take a boat ride and experience the powerful mist that comes from the massive tumbling waters?

2. Grand Canyon National Park

You might need to travel out West if you’ve never seen the Grand Canyon. This is a must-see location if you like being out in nature and everything that goes with it. You can hike, fish, and do all sorts of water sports along the Colorado River.

Take a horse ride to the bottom of the canyon and bask in the splendor of Mother Nature. It’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen, so it’s the perfect trip for your summer vacation. The towering rock formations make for great photographs and memories to share with your friends and family.

3. Glacier National Park

Many folks that come through the RDU Airport are heading to a tropical paradise. They crave crystal-clear waters in places like the Caribbean. However, few realize that a body of water with such clarity is in Montana. Lake McDonald runs through Glacier National Park, and the water is so clear that it seems shallow, but it’s pretty deep.

Other lakes close by, like Flathead Lake, often have pictures that surface on the internet for the clear waters that allow you to see the bottom from any point. This particular lake is 370 feet deep, and the optical allusion provided by the transparent waters is a marvel to see.

4. New York City

New York City and the Manhattan area are places that you should experience. Life is very different in this thriving city, and there’s something to do anytime, day or night. There are many festivals, like the Blue Note Jazz and the Museum Mile festivals, to attend during summer. Plus, NYC is just a short jot to Long Island, where beaches and amusement are provided for all ages.

5. Kauai

Nicknamed the Garden Island, Kauai is one of the most stunning islands of Hawaii. No buildings in this area can be taller than a coconut tree, as they want to preserve the view of the magnificent waters.

The Wailua River State Park is a tourist hotspot due to the area’s stunning beaches and lush foliage. My RDU Airport Shuttle has helped transport many customers on their way to the islands, and the trip is always something that dreams are made of.

6. Alaska

Alaska is often called the Land of Wonders. If you want to escape the heat during the summer months, it’s the perfect place to be. Most areas don’t get above 80 degrees, even in the middle of the hottest months.

This state has more than 663,268 square miles to explore, and it’s easy to see why it’s the largest. Life in Northern Alaska is quite different from that of the Anchorage area. Some places require a plan to get to safety; others are typical towns that feel like anywhere else in the country.

Alaska is a world away, and it’s possible to have many encounters with nature. It’s a place that you have to see to believe.

7. Miami

People come to this mega city because it’s a melting pot of cultures. There are clubs, beaches, extraordinary cuisines, and festivals and activities all summer. If you’re a more cultured person, you might enjoy the Pérez Art Museum. The city has an artsy vibe, and there’s a little something for people of all ages and cultures.
